In this presentation, Rachel will show how you can use physiology, grief, and curiosity to regain both a sense of control over your life and faith in the future. Sitting by the Fire: From Asana to Sacred Space | Healing Queen | Picnic Area (Outside)

To sit by the fire is to remember how we gather, listen, move, and tend to space with care. In this workshop, we explore how asanas can become a pathway into sacred space through presence, pacing, and intention. Designed for yoga teachers and practitioners, this session offers a grounded approach to creating classes that feel more cohesive, connected, and meaningful without performance or added complexity.

Drawing from my workshop Sitting by the Fire, you’ll learn how to:

  • open a class in a way that helps people arrive
  • guide movement with clarity and rhythm
  • hold the room’s energy without over-directing
  • transition into stillness with intention
  • close in a way that feels complete

We’ll also touch on how the arc of a yoga practice mirrors circle holding, offering a practical way to approach teaching as a form of space holding. You don’t need to add more to your teaching, learn how to hold what is already there becoming a practitioner to crafts intentional moments of renewal. This workshop is for yoga teachers and practitioners who want their classes to feel more intentional, grounded, and cohesive. It’s especially supportive for those who feel called to create spaces that are more reflective or ceremonial in their own way, without needing to add complexity or perform. No prior facilitation or ceremonial training is required.

Saturday Night After Glow

Move • Groove • Glow

After an incredible day of yoga, connection, nature, and festival experiences at the Big Bear Yoga Festival, we invite you to stay a little longer as the Performing Arts Center theater becomes the glowing heart of our festival’s closing experience. Come ready for one final shared journey.

When the theater doors open, the stage bursts to life with vibrant, joyful energy — an uplifting blend of yoga‑inspired movement, dance, laughter, and collective celebration. The space comes alive, opening itself to the community with vibrant warmth. This high‑energy wave launches the Afterglow, and within it arrives a flash of something special — a secret surprise that ignites the room. It’s quick, electric, and intentionally mysterious… a spark of festival magic that appears suddenly, lifts everyone higher, and disappears just as fast, leaving a ripple of excitement in its wake.

As the initial excitement softens, the tempo begins to shift. The lights warm and dim, the room settles, and we flow into a deeper, more immersive layer of the experience. Musicians take the stage with ancient instruments, rhythmic textures, and resonant tones. Chanting, call‑and‑response, and spoken verse weave through the space, inviting everyone to participate in whatever way feels natural — through voice, breath, movement, or quiet presence.

Gradually, the evening descends into stillness. The soundscape expands, preparing the room for a sensory sound‑bath experience. Participants are welcome to lie in savasana, letting vibrations move through the body like waves. Soft tones, layered frequencies, healing, and soothing instruments create a cocoon of calm that carries everyone toward a state of relaxed bliss.

The Yoga Afterglow closes the festival with grace — a collective soft landing. A peaceful, luminous ending that leaves each person grounded, restored, and glowing from within.
